Connect ChatGPT
Do this on a computer, in a web browser. The ChatGPT phone app can’t add connectors — but once it’s added, it works in the phone app too.
Before you begin
What it can do: read and change your trips, saved places and collections — your whole Finding Horizons account, not one trip. It can’t see your password or payment details.
Who processes it: what ChatGPT reads goes to the company that runs ChatGPT, under its terms, and uses your plan with them. On the Finding Horizons side, connecting is part of Horizons Plus and Nomad.
Disconnect or rotate any time: on the Connect page, or in the app: Profile → Connect your AI → Connected apps. Rotate makes a new link and stops the old one — do it if your link was pasted somewhere it shouldn’t be, or a device with it was lost. Disconnecting stops future access; it does not erase what ChatGPT has already kept.
How it connects
ChatGPT is given the Finding Horizons address and signs you in: you sign in once and approve. ChatGPT keeps that connection in its own secure store and renews it on its own — no key to paste again. Seen working with us on 24 October 2026.
Copy this address
Finding Horizons server addresshttps://www.findinghorizons.ca/api/mcp
No key or private link — ChatGPT signs you in and keeps the connection. Keep this page open; you’ll come back to it at the end.
Set it up before with a link and “No Auth”? Delete that app in ChatGPT and add it again this way — a link can’t be kept securely.
Open ChatGPT in a new tab and sign in
Open ChatGPT ↗Use a computer and a web browser. A paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu) is needed — free accounts can’t add apps.
In the left sidebar, click Plugins
You’ll see: a page of apps with a search box at the top.
Click Add (next to the search box)
You’ll see: a short menu.
If it shows “Create MCP App”, Developer mode is already on — skip to step 6.
If it only shows “Create plugin” and “Upload plugin archive”, do step 5 first.
Only if needed: turn on Developer mode
Click your profile picture (bottom left) → Settings → Security and login → switch on Developer mode → accept the warning. Then go back to Plugins and click Add again.
You only ever do this once. After that, adding or switching on an app is just a click.
Click Create MCP App
You’ll see: a form.
Fill in the form
Name: Finding Horizons
Description: My trips and saved places
Connection: leave Server URL selected, click the box, and paste the address (Ctrl+V, or ⌘V on a Mac).
Authentication: choose OAuth. If it shows boxes for a client ID or secret, leave them empty — ChatGPT registers itself.
Tick “I understand and want to continue”, then click Create
You’ll see: a Finding Horizons page. Sign in with the same account you use in the app, then click Approve.
Back in ChatGPT, Finding Horizons is in your app list (under Drafts — that’s normal).
Switch it on in a chat
Start a new chat. Click the + in the message box → Developer mode → tick Finding Horizons.
From now on, that’s all it takes in any new chat: + → Developer mode → Finding Horizons.
When ChatGPT wants to change something (add a place, move a stop), it asks you first.
Check it worked
Ask ChatGPT: “What have I saved in Finding Horizons?” It should list your places.
Then open Connected to your account: ChatGPT is listed there with last used and today’s date (if you used a private link, the link says it). If it still says “not used yet”, ChatGPT hasn’t reached Finding Horizons — go back one step.
ChatGPT’s menus change. Checked 10 October 2026; if yours looks different, see OpenAI’s help page.
